Advocacy helps achieve Industrial Peace

Advocacy has many useful sides and has proved relevant in many instances. It can be a useful tool in the prevention and pre-emption of industrial problems, both within micro and small enterprises as well as within medium and large establishments.

Norvisi Management Team (NMT), an association of micro and small-scale entrepreneurs in the Hohoe District decided to use the tool of advocacy to foster harmonious industrial relations within micro and small enterprises in the district. NMT was of the view that, the current labour law has introduced a paradigm shift into management - worker relationships at all levels of business and industry, and in both private and public sector.

NMT expects that through this advocacy initiative, management and employees of micro and small-scale enterprises would be better responsive to their obligations and the incidences of industrial unrest and entrepreneur - worker litigation would be minimised, to enhance and boost productivity.

This is another example of labour related private sector advocacy initiative, supported by BUSAC Fund.
